Visit to A Christmas Carol in Munich
On December 18th, 2025, the classes 9b, 9c, and 10c travelled by train from Augsburg Central Station to Munich to watch the English‑language production of A Christmas Carol at the Amerikahaus. The venue, regularly hosts cultural events and aims to support international understanding.
About the Story
The play A Christmas Carol is based on the famous story by Charles Dickens. It follows the cold‑hearted businessman Ebenezer Scrooge, who rejects Christmas and treats people around him unkindly. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his former partner Marley and later by three spirits who show him his past, present, and future. Through these visits, Scrooge begins to understand the impact of his actions and learns the importance of kindness and compassion.
The Theatre Company
The performance was presented by the American Drama Group Europe in collaboration with TNT Theatre Britain, who frequently stage classic English literature for international audiences. Their productions are known for clear storytelling and strong visual scenes that help young viewers follow the plot easily.
The Visit
The students enjoyed the lively atmosphere at Amerikahaus, and many appreciated seeing a well‑known Christmas story performed live on stage. The actors created an emotional and festive mood, supported by expressive lighting and vivid scenes of Victorian London. The trip also gave students the chance to experience authentic English theatre outside the classroom.
Overall, the day was a memorable cultural highlight. The familiar story having been prepared in lessons before the visit, the engaging performance, and the smooth train journey together made the excursion a positive experience for everyone.
