Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde at Heinrich von Buz Realschule
On February 25th, 2026, the American Drama Group Europe (ADGE) visited our school to perform their English‑language adaptation of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde for the 9th and 10th grade students. The company, founded in Munich in 1978 and known for touring high‑quality theatre across Europe and Asia, brings professional actors from New York, London, and Paris to international audiences.
Their version of the famous story by Robert Louis Stevenson is recognised for its dynamic staging, fast scene changes, and emotional depth. It includes original music by Christian Auer and strong performances from a small but versatile cast. The production is designed to work well in both large theatres and smaller school venues, making it ideal for student audiences.
The performance at our school was both exciting and engaging. Students followed the dramatic contrast between Dr Jekyll and his darker self, Mr Hyde, and many were impressed by how the actors created tension and atmosphere with only a few props.
A special element this year was our newly renovated stage. The improved lighting system and modern backdrop helped create the dark, mysterious mood of Victorian London and supported the quick transitions between scenes. These technical upgrades clearly strengthened the impact of the performance and made it feel even more professional.
Overall, the visit from ADGE was a memorable cultural highlight of the school year. It offered students a meaningful opportunity to experience authentic English theatre in an impressive setting.
